Brutalism

Welcome back to Web Write-up. In my last post I took a brief look at three trends in web design: minimalism, the use of video, and custom illustrations. This week I'll start diving deeper with a more controversial trend in web design: brutalism. Brutalism is an architectural style that became popular in the 1950s and 60s and is characterized by harsh, raw, and unembellished design, often modular and usually made of concrete. Welcome to Web Write-up, a new blog about trends in web design and development. I will be exploring ways the web is changing and what developers can do to keep their work looking fresh and modern.
